Green Woodpecker

A not to well Green Woodpecker rescued by South Essex Wildlife Hospital

Bitterns at Fishers Green

The Bitterns at Fishers Green have been showing well over the past couple of weeks. Their are 3 Bitterns regularly showing themselsves and on a recent count 4 have been seen. They are often seen from the Bittern watch point and have been seen in the reed beds around the seventy acre lake, and I have been told that they have been making their distinctive booming call.

This Bittern hase managed to catch itself a small pike (8 inches) and after about 15 miutes manages to swollow it.

Crossing the channel between the reeds in front of the Bittern hide.

Bitterns are well camouflaged when in the reed beds, but patience will be rewarded.
